Message: 1 Date: Fri, 02 Sep 2005 13:46:24 -0000 From: Dave Marheine Subject: Re: Fats Domino Missing In New Orleans They're showing a photo on the news this morning of a man identified as Fats being rescued on Monday. "AP quoted his daughter, Karen Domino White, who lives in New Jersey and identified her father from a newspaper photograph showing a man being helped out of a boat by authorities." http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050902/en_nm/weather_katrina_domino_dc So, it's to be hoped he's healthy and somewhere safe by now. I can't help thinking about this record store in N.O. not far from one of those bridges over the river. A medium grocery sized store with table after table of reccord racks. Spent the best part of an afternoon skimming the surface, picking up a single of Smiley Lewis' "I Hear You Knockin'" and a few other treasures my budget would allow. And now it's gone. On the other hand, that was probably twenty years ago, so maybe Thousands of vintage 45's and LP's under feet of contaminated water is the least of what's going on down there, but still... Good wishes and a Red Cross donation to NO, LA, MS, AL, etc. Dave -------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]------------------- SPECTROPOP features: http://www.spectropop.com End
