I visited and read some of the Secrets terrific website. But, I think it
is fantastic that the only way that I discover I have a particular track
in my collection is by reading Spectropop! Now I shall go and find my CD
set and play it. Thanks Lindsay.

Emily and Mick......Back in 1965, my then partner...former head of A+R for
Columbia records....Dave Kapralik and I signed Tony Romeo to an exclusive
songwriting contract...his first release was the b-side to Peaches and
Herbs' "Close your eyes"...." I Will watch over you". Tony and I had one
release as the group Tomorrows' People on Columbia records.I wish I had
copies of them.

US members: If you have a PBS station in your area, watch for a special
called "Garage Rock USA." It was made in Milwaukee, and is a marvelous
(though brief) history of the most notable Sixties garage-band scenes in
the US. It also features interviews with, and live performances from,
Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, the Shadows of Knight, and even Seeds
leader Sky Saxon. Watch for it!

Who on earth told you Westside had gone belly up? I'm sure that
is not true. Admittedly, they have not released much very
recently. I know of no website, but they do have a great colour
catalogue. You know, actually printed on nice shiny paper. Dear
sweet old-fashioned things. To obtain a copy of said publication,
send six first class stamps (UK) or three International Reply
Coupons (overseas) to Demon Music Group, (Demon/Westside
Catalogue), 4th Floor, Holden House, 57 Rathbone place, London
W1T 1JU. End of public service announcement.
Kingsley - Agreed, the Carol Fran tracks on "Bluesoul Belles"
were a pleasant surprise to many listeners. I think she's great.
You should hear some of her earlier, more "Louisianian" sides,
some of which can be found on Ace CDs. Swampalicious!!

Re The Lovelites Story: http://www.spectropop.com/lovelites/index.htm
It never ceases to amaze me that such obscure artistes are contacted by
Spectropop and then give such a brilliant insight into their careers. The
Lovelites' story is no exception. I was left wanting more but then I am
greedy for such facts.
Many thanks too for the photos that were used to illustrate this article.
Just goes to show that almost anyone could walk into the studios in NYC
in those heady days in the 60s and record. It's an added bonus that the
Lovelites could actually sing and look so delicious.
Now, Spectropop team...who's gonna find the (Nashville) Avons, Mary
Thomas of the Crystals or even some of the obscure British girls that a
lot of us love so much? Their stories need to be told. Need to mention
Julie Grant and Susan Singer as two Brit girls I would love to read about.
David.

Up to my neck in stuff at present but couldn't let Artie Wayne's mention
of Tomorrow's People go unmentioned. "Sting Ray's Back..." is one of my
favourite Hot Rod 45s, an absolute blinding harmony drenched, driving
beated belter.
The label credits are pretty groovy also;
Sting Ray's Back In Town (arranged & co-produced Van McCoy with Kapralik)
Californie (A Daedalus Production, pr by Wayne/Kapralik)
Columbia 43629. Both sides written T Romeo.
Sting Ray's the obvious A Side but Californie is a hell of a lot of fun
also. Come on Artie lets have some comments on the recording!

Hi, I'm new. I saw on an old post that the Japanese version of 'Dumb Head'
used to available in the files section here. I'd love to hear this. If
anyone can help me gain a copy please email me. Also, what are Ginny
Arnell's other songs like? What level of success did she reach?

Re Simon White's Metropolitan Soul Playlist 23 Febuary
Very nice, Simon. Is there any chance you could play one or two to musica
for those of us who missed the show? As I'm sure you realize we have simply
no chance of hearing these great looking titles.
----------------------------------------------------------
Admin Note - The Metropolitan Soul Show is available on the internet at:
http://www.soul24-7.com/index.htm Those with the facility to play mp3s
should have no problem tuning in.

Hi all - I am delurking to ask another question about that wonderful
unreleased Breakaways song in the film Darling (and yes, we'd love to
see a collection of unreleased Breakaways tracks!)
Earlier in the film (don't remember exactly where) the same song is
sung in french by a solo male voice - anyone know about this version?
