On the "official" recordings I have of this song, the "yeah yeah yeah" part indeed sounds bad. However, on the "Girl Group Sound" series from Sha-Boom, which seems only quasi-legal, they have a recording of the song where the "yeah yeah yeah" sounds absolutely perfect. Worth checking out, just for that. By the way, the song is awesome. Is there any way to hear > that? Have just the two of them recorded anything else? Hmm....I played bass on that recording, loved working for the Righteous Bros., espec. Bill Medley, and wasn't aware of that or had forgotten about it, interesting. I like your ideas Jamie about the possible endings for the movie. One thing I would like to throw in is that I am sure it will end before 1969 or 1972 only because I feel my father would not like to cover any time frame after he adopted his three sons. Since this would be a movie (if it ever gets released) about him, I do not think it would cover his family for reasons of how he may appear to others. I do know that my twin brother and I are waiting to see if this movie is ever started and completed just to see what they show. >From the Keyboard of: Gary Spector Not just another P.S. fan. --------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]-------------------- Message: 4 Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2001 11:36:20 -0700 From: "Doug Morris" Subject: Spector Movie Casting I happened to be watching an interview program (can't remember which one, Conan or one of those) and saw a fellow being interviewed that I didn't recognize except for thinking to myself "that guy looks just like a young Phil Spector". At the end of the interview I found out low and behold, It was Paul Rubens (aka Pee Wee Herman). With longer hair, a black leather jacket and black pants the resembelence to PS was striking. Here's my first vote for Paul Rubens to play Phil Spector. Tom Cruise? Nope, just can't see it. --------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]-------------------- Message: 5 Date: Mon, 23 Apr 2001 22:00:02 -0000 From: Mike Cee Subject: Re: Other Two Ian C. wrote: > At RCA, they cut Goffin & King's "Don't You Wanna Love > Me Baby" - theirs seems to be the only released > version of this song - does anyone know another? Ian: Connie Stevens has recorded this Goffin and King song "Don't You Want To Love Me". Yep! The same one as by The Other Two. It's virtually impossible to create the classic Spector sound with today's equipment, there are no tube devices in the chain anymore. I think Phil uses the mono masters and simply remasters them each time, resulting in better sound on the analog to digital master. I once brought up the Peppermint Rainbow album to him. He seemed surprised to find that Green Tambourine was on it. He identified the instrumental tracks as being identical, though mixed differently. I don't believe the male singers are from the Lemon Pipers, even though there's resemblance between one of them and RG Nave, of the Pipers. I know the song Rosemary is his wife's name. Will You Be Staying After Sunday is one great production, thanks to Leka's genius. --------------------[ archived by Spectropop ]-------------------- End
