Thanks for the info, Rob. Is this out on CD anywhere? If not, perhaps someone
would be so kind as to play it to musica to give us a listen.

"Should I Cry" was one from Jackie De Shannon's writing
collaboration time with Jack Nitzsche. Jackie and Jack were
really good friends, and remained so right up to his death.
I had the very great pleasure of interviewing Jackie last week
at length for an upcoming piece in Record Collector, and she
confirmed that she did indeed work on "Needles And Pins"
with Jack although her name is not on the song. She needed
a single and Liberty wasn't keen on anything she had at that
point. Jack had a riff and they began to work it up into
something together in their usual working way, and yes,
Sonny Bono was around as well. She is philosophical about
the writing credit as it stands.
She also mentioned how her recording with Spector as an artist
was a definite possibility at that point and one that had
been discussed, but the possibility evaporated when Phil
became so enamoured with Ronnie and The Ronettes' work.
"Should I Cry" is also on Jackie's recently reissued "Breaking
It Up On The Beatles Tour" album. Coming soon are two other
albums, "Are You Ready For This" and Jackie's own fave,
"Laurel Canyon," all on RPM.
